Finally October

What I’m looking forward to in October.

I’m excited about a new month. This is when fall starts in earnest, the summer air retreats, the shadows lengthen, and the leaves begin to shift. Today, when I hiked with my dog, it even felt like Autumn for the very first time. October 1st is also the first day of the final quarter of 2024, which feels like a bit of a relief to be honest. The third quarter, which started in July was a bit darker and more complicated than I would have liked.  In general, I focus more on monthly planning, but I like the opportunity to look ahead a few months and see what’s coming. This quarter, I plan to complete another draft of my novel; there is some travel in the future, and then, of course, we have the Holiday season.
