Week 3: Day 18
Week 3: Letting Go
Day 18: Allow Other People Their Problems
Summary: People pleasers spend much of their time worrying about how other people perceive us and we often assume the responsibility of trying to manage their emotions. Going to great lengths to please people around us, is a problem, because it is ultimately not within our control. We need to do our own thing, because most likely, other people are not thinking as much about us as we think they are.
Ten days to go. While I would like to say that I’m in recovery from people pleasing, that wouldn’t be entirely true. I still worry intensely about what other people perceive me and, try I endlessly to manage their perception. Trying to change remains a work in progress.
Homework: Internalize that I’m not personally responsible for the feelings of others. HA!
