Week 4: Showing Up

Day 23: How to Start from Sanity

Summary: Starting from sanity means not assuming that life will be easier in the future. It’s easy to assume that we need to strive toward a saner, happier existence, but our life are happening now. Burkeman points out that we often postpone doing things until life is less hectic, but as we know, the decks will never be clear, our to-do list will never be empty, and we will likely never be less busy. Instead, we need to make time for what would make life meaningful right now.

This is something I’ve worked on my entire adult life, and it’s a flawed, ongoing process.

Homework: Make time for what matters.
